I'm back from Hong Kong, the land that never sleeps! I'm not sure if I can live there, maybe, maybe not. I was feeling unwell some parts of the trip and that dampened it a little, but overall, it was a leisurely trip in a frighteningly fast paced city. On hindsight, I like HK enough to consider visiting it again, only if the weather is like that all year round.

I'm not going to detail my trip in this post cos there is nothing much to write about. I spent two days getting to and from Macau (the land of casinos), one beautiful day in Disneyland and the rest of the time, I was roaming the streets of HK, window shopping. My last day was a mad rush to buy the things that I needed to buy before heading back to the hotel, packing and leaving for flight early next morning.

Cuisine wise, Hong Kong offered a good range of noodles and there are teahouses (commonly known as cha chan teng), however, after eating wantan mee for three consecutive days, I was sick and tired of it (but now, I miss it a little). There was a plethora of roast meats, but I did not savour them. Yum cha (loosely translated to mean drinking tea, but is actually an activity in which people gather to drink tea with little dishes known as dim sum) is supposed to be good in HK, after all, it was supposed to have been passed down from this region in China, but it was nothing to rave about although a lot more decent than all that I have tried here at home. I had a few good meals, but my favourite has to be the pies that I got off this little shop near my hotel. They tasted heavenly in the cold. Desserts were great (for lack of a better word) as well. Generally, you have to know where to go to have great food, otherwise, you will have a pretty miserable time, unless you are the 'eat to live' type.

Hong Kong is also the land in which you can shop till you drop if you have large enough pockets, however, their cosmetics are cheap. There are "Sasa(s)" (a chain selling beauty products) all around HK at really reasonable prices. Please note that HK is tax free, so, watch your wallet.

The favourite part of my trip was Disneyland, but I'm not dwelling on it. For those who have never been to Disneyland, this is a great place to start, for those who have, you can give it a miss.

Now that I am back home, I must work harder in 2008 so that I can enjoy more trips in future. Work has been a blast thus far. I arrived on time and I hope this keeps up in 2008. Have a great year ahead folks!
